It's a good day to be a Delta employee.

The airline has announced $1.1 billion of profits will be distributed among its 80,000 employees around the world for the fourth year in a row.

And since Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is one of Delta's major hubs, Minnesota employees will see a significant chunk of that.

In its announcement, Delta revealed workers based in Minnesota will get a cut of $85.3 million – the fourth highest of any region behind Atlanta, New York City and Detroit.

Delta estimated last year that it employs roughly 8,000 workers in Minnesota, meaning the average amount they'll get is $10,662.

The company said most of its employees will receive more than 10 percent of their gross pay.

"Our industry-leading profit sharing and compensation philosophy reflects a decision we made a long time ago to share in the company’s success each year with our people who make it possible," Delta CEO Ed Bastian said.

"Rather than make a one-off payment like other companies, Delta is invested in highly competitive base pay, an industry-leading annual profit sharing plan, and monthly bonuses each year when the airline performs well."
