Just because it's friggin' freezing outside doesn't mean you have to sit at home with your dog all winter.
It's patio season all year long at The Tail Station, a winterized, dog-friendly dining area attached to The Howe Daily Kitchen & Bar in south Minneapolis.
The heated, tented space is one of the Twin Cities’ only year-round, dog-friendly dining spaces, and features a 3-course menu for the pups as well as a full food and drink menu for their humans.
“Many of our customers and staff love dogs and dining out, but often the two don’t mix, so we wanted to find a way to let them have the best of both worlds,” Kelli Holloway, General Manager, Craft & Crew Hospitality said in a news release.
On the dog menu: treats like smoked beef bone marrow and chewy smoked pigs ear, entrées including turkey "muttloaf" and "pooched" egg brunch bowl, and for dessert, a dairy-free Izzy's peanut butter banana pupcream sundae.
A la carte dog menu items range from $3-$7, with dining pups also receiving complimentary fresh water and a homemade "nilla woofer."
There are even yoga mats provided for the dogs to sit on (they're not allowed on the chairs or in peoples' laps, due to health code rules – same reason why the dogs have their own special dishes to eat/drink from.)
For the humans, there's 40 beers on tap, craft cocktails, burgers, broasted chicken, and more. Full menu here.
The space, located at 3675 Minnehaha Ave. S, is open Monday through Friday from 3:30 to 10 p.m.; Weekend brunch from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and "Yappy Hour" is every day from 3 to 6 p.m. – dogs receive $1 off entrées.
But before you start putting your dog's snow boots on, check the temp – the Tail Station closes if it drops below five degrees.
