This is not a drill: General Mills is making Girl Scout Cookie cereal

General Mills has transformed one of America’s favorite treats into a cereal.

The Minnesota-based food company will be releasing Girl Scout Cookie cereal next year.

They’re giving us not one, but two types of cereal in the most popular Girl Scout Cookie flavors: Thin Mint (seen up top) and Caramel Crunch – aka Caramel deLites, or as Minnesotans may know them, Samoas.

A spokesperson from General Mills told GoMN that the cereals will be available nationwide in January.

“We will provide additional information when we are closer to the launch,” General Mills said.

And if you need another reason to throw away your New Year’s resolution to get in shape, the Girl Scouts recently announced two new S’mores flavored cookies.

What about their commitment to ‘healthy’ cereal?

Last summer, General Mills blogged about their decision to get rid of artificial colors and flavors in their cereal. And earlier this year, they doubled down on the healthy trend by launching a line of organic, whole grain cereals.

So why are they offering cookies for breakfast?

Well, both of the boxes of Girl Scout Cookie cereal say they are “sweetened whole grain corn cereal” with no high-fructose corn syrup and no artificial colors or flavors – so apparently even cookie cereal can fit into the new guidelines.

The hype is real

In the meantime, people are getting hyped for the cereal on social media:
