Tebow to the minors: Mets don’t say anything about his skills

Tim Tebow’s never quit attitude is inspirational, but until he quits he might be stuck where the New York Mets put him Monday – at their Class A minor league affiliate.

Tebow was assigned to the Mets’ Class A affiliate in Columbia, South Carolina. Columbia Fireflies president John Katz thinks it’s where Tebow can have the biggest impact.

“His humility, faith and unwavering commitment to better himself will bring a new dynamic to our clubhouse,” Katz said in a statement. “Having a player that has achieved his level of success on two big stages will ultimately pay huge dividends for our players as they pursue their dreams of playing for the New York Mets.”

Notice how Katz didn’t say anything about Tebow’s ability to actually play baseball, but instead saying Tebow can help other players get to the big leagues?

Tebow batted .235 with four hits in 16 at-bats in six spring games with the Mets.
