Officials are looking for a predatory offender who’s no longer complying with the conditions of his release from prison.

In a news release Monday, the Minnesota Department of Corrections (DOC) said Michael James Costa, a Level 3 predatory offender, was sent to Intensive Supervised Release after being released from prison on July 25, 2016.

But Costa, 38, has been on “fugitive status” since April 14 after escaping his supervision. He was last seen leaving his home in Rochester on a black mountain bike. He was wearing a black leather jacket and black jeans.

Costa is described as being a 5-foot-6 white man, with brown hair and brown eyes, who weighs 190 pounds. He also has at least three tattoos, on his left wrist, right forearm and right calf.

He is known to use the aliases Maliik Gouli and Malik Mujaheed Hassan Costa.

Costa’s criminal history includes two convictions for criminal sexual conduct against juvenile females in 2004 and 2012. He also has two convictions for failing to register as a predatory offender.

A Level 3 predatory offender is considered the most likely to reoffend, the DOC’s website says.

If you see Costa, you shouldn’t confront him. And anyone with information on where he may be should call 911 or the DOC at 651-361-7777.
