An investigator in the Making a Murderer case will be on Dateline tonight

An investigator in the Steven Avery case will be on Dateline Friday night.

Tom Fassbender, the co-lead investigator on the case, is talking for the first time since the Netflix series Making a Murderer was released.

If you don’t know the Emmy-winning docu-series, it explores whether Avery and his nephew Brendan Dassey should have been convicted in the 2005 murder of 25-year-old Teresa Halbach. The series suggests Avery was framed by law enforcement in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, and that Dassey was manipulated by his defense team into confessing.

In the Dateline interview with Andrea Canning, Fassbender is expected to address some of these allegations, including whether investigators coerced Dassey into a false confession.

The episode, which airs on NBC at 9 p.m. Friday, will also feature “rarely seen” interrogation video, and will provide the latest on efforts to get Avery’s and Dassey’s convictions overturned.
