2017: The year Beyoncé gave birth to twins, and Minnesotans no longer had to get off the couch to order a Big Mac.
Yep, you can have McDonald’s dropped off right at your front door now – if you live in the Twin Cities. The fast food empire announced it expanded “McDelivery” services to nearly 20 restaurants in the area.
Here’s the list of all Twin Cities locations offering delivery.
It’s a partnership with UberEATS
Getting a burger, fries, and shake is as easy as requesting an Uber. That’s because Mickey D’s has partnered with the mobile app UberEATS.
Customers use the same account they use to take Uber rides, except the driver is bringing you a hot, greasy bag of deliciousness instead of giving you a ride home from the bar.
“With UberEATS, you can get the food you want, where you want it, delivered at Uber speed. We’re thrilled to partner with McDonald’s to give fans in the Twin Cities easy access to their McDonald’s favorites at the tap of a button,” Peter Forsberg, general manager of UberEATS Minneapolis/St. Paul, said in the release.
Do Minnesotans really want this? Apparently so – Forsberg said that people in the Twin Cities search for McDonald’s in the UberEATS app almost daily.
But there’s fine print
Sound too good to be true yet? Well, there’s a little bit of fine print: An UberEATS “booking fee” applies to each order. When we tried it out, the charge was $4.99.
But there’s a promotion right now that’ll get you a discount – use the promo code MCDSMILE now through Dec. 31 for $5 off your first order.
More than 2,000 McDonald’s across the country now offer the McDelivery service, with 3,500 available by the end of June, the company says.
It’s part of McDonald’s plans to make the customer experience more convenient, the announcement says – next, they’ll be rolling out self-order kiosks, table service, and mobile ordering at thousands of U.S. restaurants later this year.
